Saturday the 14th

This is it. Today, the day after the most frightening day of the month, kicks off the season of the scare.

I’ll be filling my Netflix queue with classic horror tales and all the fantastic B movies of the ‘50s, ‘60s, and ‘70s. I’ll be pulling down my movie monster popcorn bowls, and fluffing the sofa throws for the cool nights of cuddles and blood-curdling screams.

With Turner Classic Movies hosting Sundays in September with a series of Hitchcock marathons, I’m ready for suspense. I’ve already enjoyed Psycho—Hitch’s iconic horror flick. Half the fun was watching with someone who’d never seen it before. I highly recommend that experience, if you have the opportunity.

I love the classic monsters. Dracula films from the 1950’s—especially the ones starring Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee—provide me with my daily recommended allowance of cheesy one-liners and neon orange blood sprays. It’s the little things that delight me.Click to see and Purchase!

And who’s your Mummy? All of them! I can watch gauze-wrapped corpses chasing people through sand in slow motion all night long. Bullets don’t kill. Fire barely fazes. No, it takes an ancient pharaoh’s incantation to send the undead back to whence they came. Click to see and Purchase!

What about werewolves? Who doesn’t feel the urge to howl at the moon sometimes? This is the perfect time of year to show off your animal magnetism. Click to see and Purchase!

If you haven’t scheduled your scares yet, what are you waiting for? Go online and find out when your favorites are showing, and if they aren’t already on the calendar, get your rental list made now.

That’s a wrap for this Toast to Cinema. Thanks for reading.
